Lead Presenter at National Conferences

Dr. Nakeisha Savage has presented at National Conferences around the world. As a former teacher and principal, Dr. Savage is experienced in working with diverse groups of students and staff, supporting them and leading them to success. Dr. Savage has the capacity and knowledge to address a variety of topics that will motivate and engage audiences to want to move to action. Attendees to her speaking engagements and participants of her professional development sessions greatly enjoy her energy, her commitment and her authenticity when it comes to her own self-reflection and holding herself accountable to anti-racist leadership. Participants walk away feeling empowered and supported by someone that can relate to them and that connects to the very human instinct that we all have to resist change and to “snap back” to things that are most comfortable for us. In 2022: - The Courageous Conversations about Race Conference (CCAR) in Washington, DC - The National Student Leadership Diversity Convention (NSLDC) in Newark, NJ - The National Association for Black School Educators (NABSE) in Washington, DC - The Maryland Cultural Proficiency Conference (MCPS) in Baltimore, MD In 2023: - Baltimore County Public Schools Department of Organizational Leadership and Development (March 2023) - The Black Students Lead Conference in Atlanta, GA (April 15, 2023) - The Culturally-Responsive Teaching and Learning Conference in Linthicum Heights, MD (April 20, 2023) - The National Student Leadership Diversity Convention in Las Vegas, NV (April 22, 2023)

Professional Development and Coaching

  • Push participants to examine their beliefs and implicit biases as a first step in moving forward as an anti-racist leader

  • Aim to sharpen participants' racial lenses as they navigate through the world as anti-racist leaders.

Focus of Professional Development

Personal Capacity Building - (4 - 8 weeks)

The work of anti-racist leadership begins with the “inside out” work of understanding one’s racial identity and how the advantages one has had in life contributes to one’s beliefs, actions and inactions. Building personal capacity involves understanding how the lack of disadvantages or rather how one’s individual power and privilege often hinders them from seeing and fully understanding the oppression of others and how we may be unintentionally contributing to those struggles. Savage EduConsulting Agency leads participants on an internal journal through relevant professional development and coaching services that supports participants in evaluating their resources, sphere of control and sphere of influence in leveraging ways to ensure equity. Savage EduConsulting Agency leads participants to think outside of themselves, staying in an inquiry stance that challenges their own norms and beliefs.

Professional Capacity Building - (6 - 12 weeks )

The “inside out” work of anti-racist leadership development is a continuous process and it lays the foundation for the “outside in” work necessary to have a greater impact in one’s organization. Savage EduConsulting Agency aims to support leaders in gaining a better understanding of how racial dynamics shape every aspect of our lives. Specifically, professional capacity building supports participants in reflecting on the impact of race on educational/organizational equity and inequity in our schools and workplaces. Savage EduConsulting Agency aims to develop and strengthen participants’ critical consciousness leading to antiracist action that aims to ignite agency, increase efficacy and develop a culture of collaboration and accountability that leads to success for all.

Organizational Capacity Building -  (12 - 24 weeks)

Savage EduConsulting Agency leads organizations in completing an equity audit that examines hiring/staffing, productivity, organizational workflow, employee/student success and more. Savage EduConsulting Agency supports organizations with implementing initiatives that address the results from the equity audits, that are adaptive in nature and embeds the new thinking and new doing into the culture of the organization.

“ Give yourself grace and patience in your journey. Seek to stay centered and always speak your truth no matter how difficult or uncomfortable it may feel. Remember, growth does not occur in comfortable spaces.... so speak truth to power, speak up and speak out and don't let fear paralyze you from taking action.”
